Participants will have the opportunity to become a part of the Vista del Mar Elementary and Middle School legacy by sponsoring an item on the WISH LIST. This Wish List was based on guidance and input from the school Principals, teachers, and staff. It is in varying order and represents important steps towards MAXIMIZING ACADEMICS, KNOWLEDGE AND OPPORTUNITY for all the Elementary and Middle School students. The WISH LIST consists of some needed items that may not be funded otherwise.

Wish List
- TLC Support:
- As a result of some of the most significant budget cuts we have faced in history, many programs at Vista del Mar have been impacted, including the TLC program. Continuation of this program would require a full-time Instructional Assistant.

- ELMO Visualizer/SMART Board:
- This state-of-the-art technology would greatly enhance the teaching environment. The ELMO visualizer is a document camera that reproduces images from a document onto a board, and the SMART Board is an interactive white board that combines the look and feel of a whiteboard with the power of a computer.

- Senteo Handheld Response Systems:
- These hand-held systems provide a direct connection between teachers and students, and enable teachers to receive instant feedback from students (e.g., whether students are following instructions, or understand the current lesson).

- Instant Library:
- Research has shown that our top priority should be on providing our students with the widest reading experiences possible if we want our stu-dents to perform well on standardized tests. To this end, it is of paramount interest to provide students access to high interest reading material and to make them available throughout the campus so that the books can be used, for example, during silent reading time. Each "instant library" includes 86 books selected from Newberry Award winners and popular authors.

- As part of the My Access writing skills program, laptops are placed on a Write-Away Cart, and made available to students. The goal is to in-crease the number of laptops on the Write-Away Cart so that every student in a large class has access to a laptop.

- MAKO Mates is a recess program that will be utilized to encourage social skills on the playground.

- The Climbing Wall (Grades 6-8)
- The climbing wall has been a dream for the PE department of VDM. It is a major part of an integrated full circuit training facility. The facility provides much needed equipment to help students attain their physical education goals.

They are items that are necessary and will enrich and enhance the education of over 1600 children of Vista del Mar Elementary and Middle schools. The Foundation believes in finding ways to tie our parent and business community to our school. The Wish List program will help us reach outside of our area to family and friends locally and across our country who are interested in the success of the educational system of Vista del Mar.
